If you’ve ever bought a pair of budget earbuds only to have them give up halfway through a podcast, you know the frustration. I wanted to see if these new earphones (Soundcore V20i by Anker Open-Ear Headphones) could handle real-world use, so I gave them my usual test: wear them daily, see how long they last, and report back.
Spoiler alert—they lasted longer than expected, but not without a couple of quirks.
✅ The Good Stuff
Battery Life That Surprised Me
This was the standout feature. I wore these for about 2½ hours per day and didn’t have to charge them until day 8. That’s nearly 20 hours of playback on a single charge, which is impressive for an affordable pair of earbuds. Most of the other sets I’ve tried needed juice by day 3 or 4, so these definitely punch above their weight in this category.
Sound Quality
I was also pleasantly surprised by the audio. The sound is clear and balanced across lows and highs—bass has enough punch without being muddy, while vocals and treble stay crisp. Whether it was podcasts, playlists, or background work music, the experience was consistently enjoyable.
Comfort and Fit
They fit securely and stayed put through light activity like walking or chores, and the controls worked as expected. For everyday use, they felt comfortable enough for long listening sessions.
⚠️ Where They Fall Short
No Battery Meter or Display
This is the biggest drawback. There’s no way to tell how much battery life you have left—no digital display, no phone integration, nothing. By day 7, I was basically guessing if they’d last my workout or die mid-song.
No Fast-Charge “Save”
Because you don’t get a low-battery warning, there’s no quick solution if they suddenly die. You just have to stop and wait for them to recharge.
Basic Accessories
The package gives you the essentials (charging cable, case), but that’s it. Don’t expect any fancy extras.
🎧 Final Thoughts
Overall, these earphones surprised me with excellent battery life and solid sound quality. They handled 8 straight days of daily use without needing a charge, and they made everything I listened to sound sharp and enjoyable.
But the lack of a battery meter or display is a real issue. It makes them feel a bit behind compared to other earbuds that at least give you a rough estimate of charge life.
If you want reliable sound and standout battery performance at a budget-friendly price, these are worth considering. Just know you’ll need to recharge them as part of your weekly routine to avoid surprises.
Solid value with great audio and battery, but missing some basic usability features.
