I Tried Asics Gel-Venture 10 and These Are My Thoughts

A few years ago, I bought the ASICS Gel-Venture 8s, and I wore them into the ground—literally. Between running, walking, gym sessions, and errands, they became my go-to shoe until the soles gave out. So recently I decided it was time to replace them, I naturally gravitated toward the updated Gel-Venture 10s (not the 11s or maybe even 12s by now I didn’t check). After putting in solid miles and workouts, here’s my honest take.

Fit and Comfort

I run and walk about 25 miles each week, so comfort isn’t negotiable. I ordered a size 9.5W, and it’s spot on for my feet, especially because I need a wider toe box. Having read some of the reviews, I sized up a half a size and that was absolutely the right call. No pinching, no rubbing—just room to move naturally. The mesh upper keeps things breathable, while the rearfoot GEL technology provides noticeable impact absorption. Whether I’m pounding pavement or trekking a trail, the cushioning holds up. My feet never ache or feel tired after I put in a hard workout. And sometimes after you’ve been pounding out the miles, that ache is no joke. Now – they may start hurting eventually when I have worn them out, but at that point they will graduate to just an errand shoe and won’t have to live that hard mileage life, lol.

Everyday Versatility

These aren’t just my “running shoes.” I wear them everywhere—daily walks, gym cardio, strength training, and yes, even grocery store runs. The trail-specific outsole has enough grip for outdoor paths but isn’t overkill on flat gym floors. The AMPLIFOAM midsole adds just enough bounce without feeling too squishy. They strike that balance between support and flexibility that makes them a great all-around shoe. I broke them in for a few days by wearing them for just one mile, and then putting on my old shoes to finish my workout. That way I could feel if I was going to have any issues without wearing them for so long that they actually gave me any issues. I never feel like I’m going to slip when going from an outside that is rainy to a hard grocery store floor, so that is definitely another plus.

Performance

On runs, the Gel-Venture 10s feel stable and grounded. I tend to underpronate (landing more on the outside of my foot), and these shoes offer the right shock absorption without rolling my ankles. The transition from heel to toe feels smooth, and they’re not overly heavy, which helps on longer runs. I can clock in my weekly mileage without worrying about sore arches or hot spots. This is specifically true for my toes. The toe box in these size 9.5Ws leave room for my toes to move a bit, but my big toe doesn’t hit the outside of the toe box. And that is something that I look for in all my running shoes. I can’t deal with a toe pinch – and with these I don’t have to!

Style and Durability

ASICS keeps the look simple, which I like—subtle but sporty. After several weeks of use, the outsole still looks solid, and the cushioning hasn’t flattened out. Given how long my Gel-Venture 8s lasted, I expect these to be a reliable partner for the long haul. Plus, the color these came in (gravel/blue violet) wears so nicely, you can’t even tell when they are dirty. These look good with my lighter clothes as well as my darker clothes. And in the past I have bought a light sneaker and a dark sneaker to match my outfits, but I didn’t need to do that this time. That may mean that I need another pair a little sooner, but that isn’t a bad thing with these.

Final Thoughts

If you’re active like me—splitting your time between running/walking, the gym, and everyday life—the ASICS Gel-Venture 10 is a solid choice. They deliver comfort, support, and durability without breaking the bank. For anyone needing a roomy toe box or a versatile shoe that can handle both trails and treadmills, these check all the boxes.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Have you worn Asics running shoes? I would love to hear what you think of them. I would also love it if you wanted me to do a review of any running shoes – Asics or otherwise. Let me know in the comments!
